Are EVs really greener with extra weight?

I love EVs, but adding more weight doesn’t make them more eco-friendly, it just uses more energy. I think it'd make sense for the batteries to be lighter, don't you think?

Yes, you are right. More energy equals more consumption, and yes, that would eliminate the idea of making EVs more eco-friendly.
For example, Lucid Air is in that spot. It uses bigger battery packs just to compensate. The Ioniq 6 which is lighter is also better in efficiency. So, yeah, a good solution would be lighter battery tech.
 
Exactly, lighter batteries would improve efficiency without compromising range. It's great to see lighter EVs like the Ioniq 6 performing better in terms of energy consumption.
